Fox: "Kris Allen Is, Without a Doubt, the American Idol"

Fox is defending itself against claims that corporate sponsor AT&T unfairly swayed the show’s outcome by providing Kris Allen fans with free “power texts.” According to The New York Times , AT&T provided phones for free text-messaging services at two Allen parties in Arkansas on the night of the finals. Citing sources, The Times reports that AT&T reps showed party-goers how to “power text” — cast 10 votes at the touch of a button — which violates show rules. No similar efforts appear to have been made to provide free texting services to Adam Lambert fans, who have complained that the competition’s voting was rigged.

Clay Aiken Apology to Adam Lambert; Aiken Apologizes for Blog Post

The Clay Aiken apology to Adam Lambert came the day after his original blog post dissed the American Idol runner-up. What did the Clay Aiken apology say… and was Aiken in the wrong about Adam Lambert? First, Clay Aiken took to his paid-members-only blog to rip on Adam Lambert, commenting how the one time he watched Idol this season, Lambert’s rendition of Ring of Fire was “contrived, awful and slightly frightening!” Later in the day, Aiken removed the blog post and the next day put up a lengthy apology to Lambert and his fans. In part, Clay Aiken’s apology read: “I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to.” “My opinion is just that, only my opinion, but for as much as some of the bloggers seem to dislike me and care so little about my thoughts, they sure can waste a lot of their space on what I say.” Aiken’s apology included: “The only person I would really dream of apologizing to is Adam. And the irony is, if he’s smart he couldn’t give a crap what I think
